From ex situ, Latin for ‘outside the natural habitat’

Created by plant collectors, for plant collectors, xSITU is the first indoor greenhouse cabinet designed for tropical species and other plants that require carefully controlled conditions. Hand-built in the EU from 100% recycled materials, it combines a watertight metal frame with tempered glass. With app-adjustable settings for humidity, temperature, light, and air circulation, it supports everything from aroids and orchids to mushrooms, leafy greens, cannabis, and seed starts. Automated watering, paired with water purification and a closed-loop recycling system reduces waste and keeps your plants healthy—even when you're away. Optional cameras are available so you can check in from anywhere. XSITU brings the greenhouse cabinet into your living room—so your rarest plants can thrive, wherever you are.

Gone for a month? Your plants won’t notice.

app

The XSITU APP offers comprehensive control over all cabinet functions—lighting, humidity, irrigation, airflow, and temperature. Designed for both precision and ease, it allows users to monitor and adjust settings in real time from anywhere in the world. Integrated camera feeds provide live visual access to each shelf, enabling remote plant observation and timely environmental adjustments. For added security, the system includes a manual override feature. This ensures uninterrupted control even during internet outages or device issues, maintaining optimal conditions without compromising plant safety.

light

Each XSITU Cabinet features a high-efficiency horticultural LED system tailored for the needs of tropical and rare plants in enclosed environments. Key Features: + Full-spectrum LED modules to support all growth stages of tropical foliage + High efficacy for energy-efficient plant growth + Dimmable light output to adjust intensity for different plant species and life cycles + Optimized light distribution with front-facing narrow-angle modules to reduce glare and wide-angle rear modules for even canopy coverage + Sealed, moisture-resistant design (IP67-rated) for reliability in humid conditions This lighting system ensures a balanced, uniform PPFD across each shelf while maintaining visual comfort in living spaces. Users can configure light cycles via the companion app to match photoperiods and species-specific needs.

humidity

Humidity is monitored and controlled at the shelf level via precision sensors. Ultrasonic misting units maintain targeted humidity ranges by generating fine water mist, ensuring even distribution without oversaturation. Humidity levels can be adjusted up to 100% relative humidity when necessary to meet the demands of specific tropical species. The closed-loop system dynamically adjusts misting frequency based on real-time sensor feedback to maintain optimal vapor pressure for tropical species. The multi-sensor array across shelves also tracks temperature, light, airflow, and irrigation, eliminating microclimate imbalances and ensuring uniform conditions for all plants regardless of shelf position.

airflow

Air circulation within the cabinet is regulated by adjustable fans with distinct speed settings. Continuous air purification is achieved through integrated UV-C treatment, effectively inhibiting mold, fungal spores, and airborne contaminants. This system maintains a stable microclimate that promotes plant health and reduces disease risk. Shelf-level sensors continuously monitor airflow and temperature, preventing condensation, stagnant air pockets, or temperature gradients between shelves, thus maintaining even environmental conditions throughout.

irrigation

The cabinet utilizes a bottom-watering system that efficiently delivers moisture directly to plant roots. An internal 20-litre reservoir supports autonomous operation for up to one month, allowing extended absences without compromising plant hydration or humidity control. Water is continuously captured and recirculated through a dual-stage filtration system that eliminates bacteria, fungal spores, and impurities—ensuring only clean, plant-safe water re-enters the system. Now you can go on holiday without worrying about your precious plants.

temperature

XSITU provides precise temperature regulation ranging from 4°C to 40°C to accommodate the specific needs of rare and tropical plant species. This broad range supports both cool-resting periods and warm-growth phases, replicating natural plant environments. Sensors installed on every shelf continuously monitor temperature, ensuring uniform conditions throughout the cabinet. This prevents thermal gradients that could stress plants or encourage disease, guaranteeing each specimen experiences optimal climate stability. Understanding the delicate requirements of rare plants, XSITU’s temperature control system integrates seamlessly with humidity, airflow, and lighting to create a consistently balanced microenvironment.

camera

We offers optional high-resolution cameras installed on each shelf, enabling remote visual access to your plants via the app. Monitor growth, detect early signs of stress, and adjust environmental settings from anywhere in real time. The cameras also capture time-lapse sequences, providing a dynamic record of your plants’ development over time. This feature enhances plant care precision and allows collectors to stay connected to their collections, even when away. Shelf-level sensors continuously monitor airflow and temperature, preventing condensation, stagnant air pockets, or temperature gradients between shelves, thus maintaining even environmental conditions throughout.

We don’t build many.

XSITU is a climate-controlled plant cabinet with app-controlled lighting, humidity, airflow, and automated bottom watering. Designed for tropical plant collectors growing Anthurium, Philodendron, Monstera, Alocasia and other rare species indoors. A complete indoor plant care system that replaces grow tents, IKEA hacks, and DIY setups.
